What Happens in a Consultation

We come to your home with a curated set of large-format physical paint samples — actual painted boards, not printed chips — sized so you can hold them against a wall and genuinely see the color. We walk your rooms together, talk about what feels dated, what you want the space to feel like, and what has to stay (flooring, countertops, furniture you love). Then we test candidates on your walls:

• In your real light. We check each candidate where the room's light actually lands — bright afternoon sun, shaded corners, and under your evening lamps. Henderson's warm desert light shifts colors more than most people expect.
• Against your fixed finishes. Tile, floors, and countertops all push a wall color warmer or cooler. A sample held next to them tells the truth immediately.
• At real scale. Color intensifies as it grows. A large sample shows you what a whole wall of it will do — a chip never does.

You leave the consultation with a room-by-room palette plan: main wall colors, any two-tone or accent treatments, and ceiling and trim colors that tie it together — plus a single flat-rate quote for the painting work.

Why Physical Samples Beat Screens and Fan Decks

Phone screens and website previews render color through a backlit display — they can't show you how a paint absorbs and reflects the light in your house. Fan-deck chips are printed ink at postage-stamp scale. Physical painted samples in your own rooms are the only method that reliably predicts the finished wall, which is why it's the method designers use and the one we've built our service around.

The Palettes We Steer Toward

Henderson homes built in the 1990s and 2000s tend to need rescuing from two eras: the Tuscan years (gold, ochre, sponge and rag faux finishes) and the builder-beige years. The palettes replacing them now are warmer and calmer than the cold grays of the 2010s:

• Warm whites and soft creams that stay bright without going yellow in desert light
• Mushroom, greige, and soft clay neutrals that flatter tile and wood tones
• Muted sage, eucalyptus, and olive greens — the defining accent family of this decade
• Deep, moody accents — inked navy, forest, espresso — for two-tone walls, offices, and dining rooms
