The Treatments We Paint

  • Classic accent walls. One wall in a deeper or richer color to anchor a bed, a fireplace, or a dining area — chosen so it complements the main color instead of clashing with it.
  • Two-tone horizontal splits. A darker tone below and lighter above, divided at a height that suits the room's proportions. A modern take on wainscoting for a fraction of the millwork cost.
  • Color drenching. Walls, ceiling, and trim in one continuous color for a rich, enveloping room — dramatic in offices, dining rooms, and powder rooms.
  • Painted niches, arches, and pot shelves. Henderson homes from the 1990s and 2000s are full of arched niches and pot shelves. Painted in a contrast tone, they turn from dated leftovers into deliberate features.
  • Open-concept color zoning. Big Henderson great rooms often merge kitchen, dining, and living into one volume. Careful color placement visually defines each zone without a single wall being built.

Why the Execution Matters as Much as the Color

Two-tone work lives or dies on the line. A wavering edge between two colors reads as sloppy from across the room. We set our dividing lines with laser levels, mask with sharp-line tape, and seal the tape edge so the second color can't bleed under it. Corners, ceiling lines, and transitions get cut in by hand, by painters who do this every week.

Color changes — and two-tone work is almost always a color change — get two full coats of premium Sherwin-Williams paint. That's what it takes for a deep accent tone to cover evenly and for a light color to sit clean over a dated gold or beige without the old color ghosting through.

Where It Works Best in Henderson Homes

Tall stairwells and two-story great rooms in Seven Hills and MacDonald Ranch take beautifully to a grounded two-tone treatment that keeps all that wall height from feeling blank. Newer open plans in Cadence and Inspirada, delivered in wall-to-wall builder white, are ideal candidates for zoning and accent color. And the arched niches all over Green Valley, Anthem, and Whitney Ranch are ready-made accent features waiting for the right tone.

Not sure which treatment suits your room? That's exactly what the in-home color consultation settles — with samples held against your actual walls.
